Latin Requiem Mass in memory of King Kigeli V of Rwanda

Requiem Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite – Written at the request of the Royal Stewart Club of Los Angeles

His Majesty King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa, the last ruler of the Kingdom of Rwanda, passed away on October 16 at his home in a suburb of Washington, D.C. He was 80 years-old. His late Majesty, a devout Roman Catholic, was deeply committed to the people of Rwanda and to their security and freedom, and he remained so every day of his long life even after being brutally robbed of his throne and forced into exile in 1961.

On Saturday, February 11 at 11 am, the Royal Stewart Club of Los Angeles will host a Requiem Mass in memory of King Kigeli at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in Inglewood. The Requiem will be celebrated according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (Traditional Latin) by the Reverend Robert Bishop, CMF under the generous auspices of the Reverend Marcos J. Gonzalez, KCHS, SChLJ, pastor of St. John Chrysostom. Music will be provided by organist Steven Ottomanyi and chorus. A reception will follow the service.

The Royal Stewart Club, a pro-monarchy advocacy group, is truly honoured to be able to pay tribute to King Kigeli, who was personally known to many Los Angeles-area monarchists, all of whom held His late Majesty in the highest possible regard and who now mourn his passing. We hope you will join us in bidding farewell to this good man and extraordinary king.
